Counseling involves communication between patients and therapist that is intended to help people find relief from emotional distress, as in becoming less anxious, fearful or depressed, seek solutions to problems in their lives, such as dealing with disappointment, grief, family issues, and job or career dissatisfaction, and modify ways of thinking and acting that are preventing them from working productively and enjoying personal relationships.
Health coaching works by giving people the confidence, knowledge, and skills to become active participants in their own care and achieve their self-identified health goals. Holistic health coaching uses an integrative approach to diet and lifestyle changes to improve the client’s health. The practice of health education within a coaching framework and context enhances well-being and facilitates the realization of health-related goals.
Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing that integrates the connection between the body and the mind. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which focuses primarily on thoughts and emotions, somatic therapy recognizes that trauma and stress are often stored in the body and can manifest as physical tension, chronic pain, or dysregulation of the nervous system. By tuning into physical sensations and learning to regulate physiological responses, clients can develop greater resilience, emotional balance, and a deeper sense of connection to themselves.
Reiki is a health approach in which practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above a person, with the goal of directing energy to help facilitate the person’s own healing response. It’s based on an Eastern belief that "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
